The Recreation Department provides swim lessons in the Lawrence High School pool. Each session includes eight lessons. The class sizes are limited and will be filled on a first registered basis.

The cost is $80 per session for residents of Lawrence Township (non-resident fee is $160). All swim instruction is held in the pool at the Lawrence High School 2525 Princeton Pike. Each session includes 8 lessons on the day(s) of the week listed below.
PRE BEGINNER LEVEL - For ages 3 to 6. Swimmers will be introduced to water in a fun playful way to increase water comfort
Pre-requisite: Must be potty trained and able to participate in group setting.
BEGINNER LEVEL - For ages 6 and up (younger children MUST be approved by instructor).
Swimmers will learn proper kick techniques on front and back, gain comfort in the water, learn beginner and elementary backstroke, and basic water safety rules.
ADVANCED BEGINNER LEVEL - For ages 6 and up (younger children MUST be approved by instructor).
Swimmers will learn proper kick techniques on front and back, side breathing, be introduced to deep-water swimming and treading water, beginner and elementary strokes.
Pre-requisites: Must be comfortable in shallow water and able to pass Beginner test
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL - For ages 7 and up (younger children MUST be approved by instructor).
Swimmers will learn American crawl stroke (freestyle) and overarm back stroke, diving, kneeling and standing, stream line push offs, water safety skills, and increase endurance.
Pre-requisite: Must be able to pass Advanced Beginner test.
ADVANCED LEVEL - For ages 7 and up (younger children MUST be approved by instructor).
Swimmers will increase endurance as well as learn breast stroke and side stroke and be introduced to butterfly stroke. Swimmers will also be introduced to competitive swimming techniques.
Pre-requisite: Must be able to pass Intermediate test.
